Each of the lion + pheasant's twenty-two bedrooms is individually styled in a calm understated idiom, combining the best of contemporary design with the historic character of the English Heritage grade II listed property.
Spread over the terrace of seventeenth and eighteenth century townhouses which make-up this unique property, the rooms are spacious and bright, and those on the top floor enjoy the added charm of half-timbered walls, dormer windows and loft ceilings.
All are provided with excellent amenities, including natural seagrass carpeting, luxury oak and wrought-iron beds, pocket-sprung matresses, fine linens, spacious power-showers, flat-screen TV's, wireless internet access, and Gilcrest and Soames toiletries.
But if wishing to be really pampered, the split-level 'Loft Room' is your only option. Accessed by its own winding stair, an oak floor, soft lighting, cast iron-bed, freestanding roll-top bath and its piece-de-resistance - a unique sixteenth century king-post trussed roof - make this undoubtedly the most desirable bedroom suite in Shrewsbury.
There are also two hotel-owned cottages - the 'Stables' and 'Hotspur' - within the immediate vicinity of the lion + pheasant. Available for letting by the night or week, they are perfect for groups or families, and combine access to the hotel's amenities with all the flexibility of self-catering.
Due to its historic listed building status, the Lion + pheasant does not have lift access and regrettably cannot provide accommodation for disabled guests, but hotel management will assist visitors in finding accessible accommodation in one of the town's other hotels nearby.
