Once an old coaching inn, our riverside hotel on Shrewsbury’s medieval Wyle Cop with its Tudor-lined black and white timber framed houses still offers an echo of local history. Inside the Lion + Pheasant continues the spirit of the past with every feature fireplace and historic architectural details. While the interiors have been lovingly refreshed, the building is still heritage at heart.
A perfect patchwork of black-and-white framed buildings, Shrewsbury’s famous Wyle Cop is a postcard to the past. Home to the UK’s longest stretch of independent shops and businesses, this historic street stretches from the town centre to the English Bridge, enchanting all with its quirky boutiques and timeless Tudor architecture.
Within striking distance of the River Severn, our old town hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy everything Shrewsbury has to offer. Take a stroll along its banks to The Quarry, a stunning 26-acre park, or simply meander among the medieval architecture of a thriving market town.
At the Lion + Pheasant, the role of our front-of-house staff is integral to the smooth running of our historic riverside hotel. From checking in guests to managing bookings, giving directions, taking care of admin, or serving guests in our bars and restaurants, you’ll be ensuring the guest experience is everything expected and more.
As the first point of contact for our guests, excellent customer service skills are essential to this role, while previous experience would be a bonus.
At the Lion + Pheasant, we are always on the hunt for up-and-coming culinary talent. You’ll get the chance to work in a boutique hotel in Shrewsbury’s town centre, with plenty of opportunities to learn new skills. Our chefs are constantly evolving and experimenting, working with the freshest local ingredients Shropshire has to offer.
